HHH Sassy Sweetery Finally Opening Storefront in Byron

Here's a chance to support another 100% locally owned and operated business that is a short trip down the road from Rockford, HHH Sassy Sweetery. Don't quote me on how long Holly has been rolling out different kinds of delicacy because I'm still new to the Byron-area but you  can  quote me on calling it absolutely delicious. I'm not the only person who will vouch for HHH.

Some of the other locally-owned food favorites you should try are Crust & Crumbles  (artisan baked goods), Sugarjones  (more sweet treats), 15th & Chris (burgers and fries,) and OlivoTaco . Of course, there are many more local favorites, just keep your eyes open and you'll find them.

Santa Barbara County to Ask Community About Cannabis Storefronts - The Santa Barbara Independent

A total of six cannabis storefronts will open in areas controlled by Santa Barbara County — in other words, outside its cities — and the public is invited to comment on the business application criteria and neighborhood compatibility. Six virtual meetings will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting July 1, each focusing on one of the locations: Isla Vista, Santa Ynez, Toro Canyon/Summerland, Orcutt, Eastern Goleta Valley, and Los Alamos.

In a 19-minute video, Steven Yee, a fiscal analyst with the CEO's office, and Kathryn Lehr, a senior planner, go into detail about the complicated, three-step cannabis storefront application process. Each application is first reviewed for completeness and zoning compliance. They then go through a check against the requirements of the county Business License Ordinance, and a third-party consultant scores the business proposal.

Annika E. Frieberg: La Mesa should've left vandalized storefronts boarded up longer.

I felt troubled as I watched a local glass company replace shop windows in the La Mesa Springs Gallery Plaza earlier this month. The workers were taking down the plywood that was put up over broken shop windows after peaceful protests were replaced by looting, burning and rioting as Saturday, May 30, turned into Sunday, May 31.

In the early morning hours after the vandalism, I watched hundreds of locals come down to the village to clean, paint and help out in every way they could. By Sunday afternoon, the street was free of debris and much of the graffiti painted over. La Mesa had come together in a show of solidarity and resolve to restore order, using the social media hashtag #lamesastrong.
