Meanwhile, Some People Are Stress-Shopping Diamond Bracelets - The New York Times

The coronavirus quarantine has prompted boredom, impatience and aggravation. But it has clearly not dampened rich buyers' love for jewelry … at least not judging from the success of recent online jewelry auctions.

Some of these buyers may well be moneyed housewives who have become online addicts during the pandemic. Some may be skittish about the stock market and want to put their money in jewels. And others are active professional women used to doing their own research and buying.

L.A. Shopping Returns, for a Second Time

The traffic is back in Los Angeles and, for some retailers and brands, so is some degree of shopping.

* * *

Malls and some brands were understandably eager to get doors open again that week and rushed to do so, even if the reopening was a surprise. It was only 10 days before that curbside pickup started to be allowed for nonessential retail and talks major retailers were having with city and state officials pointed to in-store retail not returning until sometime in August. But some luxury brands that dashed to reopen were rewarded with shoppers who seemed just as eager to spend their money.

1 wounded, 1 sought in Dallas shopping mall shooting - ABC News

DALLAS -- One person was shot Tuesday at a busy Dallas shopping mall, and police were seeking a single suspect, authorities said.

The mall was evacuated as officers reviewed security video and made a store-by-store search of the mall for the suspect. No other shootings or injuries were reported.

Sabrena Moore, 23, said she was shopping at the H&M on the second floor of the mall when she heard several gunshots.

"I started running toward the fire escape, because that's the nearest exit that I saw," she told The Dallas Morning News.

Bay Area suburban office park's reopening is test for work, shopping during coronavirus -

With over 30,000 employees and 600 companies in normal times, including the headquarters of Chevron and major offices for AT&T, IBM, SAP and General Electric, the sprawling East Bay office park is creating a template for work and shopping with the coronavirus as an ongoing reality.

Landlord Sunset Development Co. is partnering with John Muir Health and Contra Costa Health Services to conduct daily temperature checks and health screenings at each office building. Temperature checks are also available in the City Center mall, where around 60% of tenants have reopened for in-store shopping and outdoor dining. Masks are mandatory throughout the 585-acre property.

Mastercard Adds Tool For Shopping On Amazon | PYMNTS.com

Amazon customers in 12 countries across North America, Latin America, the Middle East and Europe will have their stored credit card credentials tokenized, Mastercard announced Wednesday (June 17).

By replacing a shopper's card number with a token, payment information is unique to each individual transaction and can be used only by the merchant that requested it, the company said.

The move to tokenization comes amid the rise of eCommerce as consumers save and manage their card details across multiple websites. Amazon and other merchants worldwide use Mastercard's technology to ensure the cards consumers store on file stay seamlessly up to date, the company said.
