Three months in quarantine have made it all too obvious that most online stores look the same — and with its Sims-like pivot, OTB wants to sprinkle on some spice.
Using your mouse, you can steer yourself in and out of the different rooms, organized by category — one for denim, one for footwear. See a hoodie you like? You can zoom in and check the listing.
Footwear News reported that startups like Joor, BrandLab, and Le New Black — all of which offer virtual showroom tech — have seen "significant increased growth" this year.
Quite a lot has been going on:
Monitor: Long-term, health-focused consumer shopping patterns emerge | New Hope Network
Halfway into 2020, and what feels like several decades into the COVID-19 pandemic, it could be time to start picking through what has been exposed by the ebbing tide of pantry-panic that left shelves bare and primal human insecurities on full display. Costco restocked its toilet paper bins, and perhaps now industry analysts can take stock of the long-term changes that began over the past few months.
The COVID-19 situation is still shifting rapidly, with new cases currently spiking across the South and West U.S. regions. This has created a new ripple of contagion and impending economic distress in an already turbulent pond. Still, consumers have developed new habits and strategies around shopping to keep themselves well stocked should lockdowns return. Consumers' feelings about the products they buy and their tangible health benefits may already be solidifying.
06/25/2020 | 'Neighborhood Shopping Center' Envisioned In Berlin; Council Approves Commercial
BERLIN – Town officials approved a zoning change this week that will allow for more commercial development in the area of routes 818 and 50.
The Berlin Town Council on Monday agreed to change the zoning on 26 acres of industrial land near the intersection of Route 50 and Route 818 to B-2 business district. The change is expected to allow plans for a neighborhood shopping center to move forward.
“We’re envisioning a mix of uses,” land planner Chris Carbaugh said. “Really it’s open to anything permissible in the B-2 but we’re targeting uses such as restaurants, pharmacies, retail, gift shops. It’s open at this point.”
Developer Clears Land on West Bay Ave for Shopping Center | TAPinto
BARNEGAT, NJ – Dozens of trees have already been cleared at the intersection of West Bay Avenue and Sandpiper Road as developers make way for a new shopping center. The property sits adjacent to the Heritage Bay residential development, and across the street from the Acme Shopping Plaza.
Barnegat Land Associates, LP initially submitted plans for development of the 5.597-acre property in late 2011. Ultimately, they received approval to build a Dollar General, AutoZone building, a retail building, and a bank with two drive-thru lanes.

Ridgefield sidewalks will become outdoor shopping venues - The Ridgefield Press
It’s a familiar summer sight in downtown Ridgefield: Main Street merchants displaying products on racks and tables outside their shops as part of the town’s annual sidewalk sales.
This year’s version has several twists: It will run much longer than two days, and items won’t necessarily be on sale all the time.
“We’re opening up Main Street from July 1 through early September to allow merchants to have outdoor displays,” said First Selectman Rudy Marconi. “There will be restrictions — they can’t block the sidewalk or go into parking spaces, for example — but this is something we hope will draw more people into town.”
Diane's Beachwear in the Shore closes—and another swimwear shop opens - Long Beach Business
Just as the local beaches are beginning to thaw, with summer almost upon us, Diane's Beachwear, a 2nd Street shopping staple for nearly half a century, has closed.

It's also unclear if the remaining stores will close. The stores either have disconnected phones or calls went unanswered, and their websites all say "Sorry we missed you. Have a safe and healthy summer."
"They just left, I never heard a word from them," said Dede Rossi, executive director of the Belmont Shore Business Association.
