CMP customers to see slight bill increases from fall 2019 storms - Portland Press Herald

Central Maine Power Co. customers will see an average monthly increase of $2.50 on their electric bills starting in July to cover the cost of repairs from two back-to-back storms in October and November 2019.

CMP opted to spread the price increase over three years to reduce the severity of the changes to customer bills, the company said Thursday in a news release.

The Maine Public Utilities Commission authorized an annual adjustment of electric delivery prices for all CMP customers in Maine effective July 1, it said. When all components of the annual price adjustment are combined, the resulting change will add roughly $2.50 to the average residential customer's monthly bill, according to CMP.

Online marketplace ranked top 10 'kinkiest' names based on customer's purchasing

Your name probably says a lot about who you are but a British report added a new layer of depth to dozens of names. 

OnBuy.com, an online marketplace , said they noticed a spike in their sex and adult categories during the COVID-19 lockdown. The website calculated the first names of their buyers and came up with a list of the top 10 kinkiest names of their customers based on spending habits.

According to the report, customers named Jessica are the kinkiest customers. For women's names, Liz, Hannah, Sarah and Karen rounded out the top five names of customers most frequently buying from sex and adult categories.

Duke creates REC program for individual retail customers in North Carolina – pv magazine USA

Duke Energy has launched a new program for North Carolina customers who want to guarantee that the electricity that they use is renewably-generated, even if they can’t install solar on their residence.

Under what has been dubbed the Renewable Advantage program, Duke customers can choose to add an additional charge to their bill ($3, according to Duke), which goes towards supporting the generation of 250-kWh blocks of electricity from renewable energy resources. Each block of Renewable Advantage is equal to one-quarter of a renewable energy certificate (REC). There is no limit to how many blocks a customer can purchase in a month.

Utility customers: Your unpaid pandemic bills are coming due

After a months-long pause during the pandemic, Tampa Electric Co. will resume disconnections later this summer for customers who don't pay their bills.

Florida's major utilities began a grace period for disconnections in March for customers who were unable to pay their bills because of hardships caused by COVID-19. Tampa Electric and its sister company, TECO Peoples Gas, extended that period through the end of July, spokeswoman Cherie Jacobs said Thursday. Duke Energy Florida does not have a specific end date for its grace period.

"Let's Be Kind" Campaign aims to spread kindness between customers and businesses

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A new initiative by Maine business groups is encouraging kindness from customers.

They encourage folks to remember to follow both the state's mandates in regards to public safety, as well as the rules individual stores lay out.
