Were you following this:

Race isn't a social construct. It's an ad campaign

Ask anybody in this industry to name the greatest advertising campaigns of all time. Most will probably say, “Just Do It.” (Full disclosure: It was created by my employer, Wieden+Kennedy, but still true.) Many will point to Apple’s “Think Different.”

If you had a certain type of liberal arts education, you’ve heard this line, usually said with a certain smug energy. Hot take, Ainslie . Yes, it’s made up, but my real Black body is viewed with real suspicion by the real NYPD and their very real guns.

Facebook on Thursday said it removed campaign posts and advertisements from the Trump campaign featuring an upside down red triangle symbol once used by Nazis to identify political opponents.

One of the political advertisements claimed that "dangerous MOBS of far-left groups are running through our streets and causing absolute mayhem." The ad went on to say protesters are destroying America's cities by rioting. "It's absolute madness," the ad said.

Patagonia, The North Face join Facebook ad boycott | Advertising | Campaign Asia

Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said in a press release announcing the campaign that the organisations have tried individually and collectively to push Facebook to make its platforms safer, but that the company has "repeatedly failed to take meaningful action".

NAACP president and CEO Derrick Johnson said of the campaign: “Facebook remains unwilling to take significant steps to remove political propaganda from its platform. It is clear that Facebook and its CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, are no longer simply negligent, but in fact, complacent in the spread of misinformation, despite the irreversible damage to our democracy. Such actions will upend the integrity of our elections as we head into 2020. We will not stand for this.

BP 'using advertising to mislead the public'

The public should not be misled, and fossil fuel companies must be accountable for the damage they do.

An OECD complaint filed by ClientEarth lawyers alleging oil giant BP misled the public in its advertising campaign would have proceeded had the company not already committed to end the ad campaign, it was announced today.

The UK National Contact Point for the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises (NCP) has assessed ClientEarth's world first complaint as being material and substantiated, despite the complaint not proceeding due to BP ending its ad campaign, in a decision lawyers say sets a precedent for complaints against corporate greenwashing.
