A number of stores will be closed on Thanksgiving this year, often ending a long-standing tradition of kicking off Black Friday sales on Thursday, before the turkey has had a chance to cool. These retailers have not yet announced plans for Friday, Nov. 27, but we'll update this article as we learn more about their holiday hours.
In addition, all of the retailers listed below require customers to wear face coverings. Unless their policies change between now and Thankskgiving, it's reasonable to assume that face coverings will be required for Black Friday sales as well.

Zero Waste Grocery Shopping? Tare Makes It Possible
LOS ANGELES – Walk into almost any grocery store, and the shelves aren't just loaded with food but plastic. Between the ketchup bottles and bread bags, the drink containers and frozen food trays, the average American generates about a half pound of plastic waste each day, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
"The problem is that a lot of companies are putting the waste on the people. They're not responsible for their packaging," said Joseph Macrino, co-owner of a new zero-waste grocery store in Highland Park called Tare. "We're really trying to close that loop."
Price Chopper discontinues use of plastic shopping bags at checkouts in N.Y.
Price Chopper/Market 32 supermarkets said Thursday the changeover would take effect Saturday in its New York stores.
New York state enacted a ban on single-use plastic bags five months ago. The ban contained exceptions for numerous types and uses of plastic bags, such as for retail sales of everything from cold cuts to kumquats, but not for the familiar two-handled thin-film plastic shopping bag that supermarket cashiers have loaded with purchased groceries for decades.
The Weird Quirks of Covid-Era Shopping
(Bloomberg Opinion) -- The pandemic has given rise to some big changes in consumer behavior. We're all familiar with the obvious ones by now, including more meals at home, fewer trips on airplanes and a dearth of reasons to buy high heels or suits. But after a batch of big-name consumer companies reported earnings in recent days, it's become clear those changes were just the beginning.
The Covid-19 situation has created a spider web of indirect, secondary shifts in shopping habits and consumer appetites that are just as consequential for brands and retailers as the bigger, broader trends. How companies respond will serve as a key test of their adaptability and creativity. Here are just a few examples:
