COVID-19 means a lot more online shopping, which means a lot more delivery trucks that could contribute to a lot more air pollution in our neighborhoods.
The economy is slowly bouncing back in some areas. Streets are crowded with pedestrians, bikers, cars and trucks as some businesses open. But while it's comforting to see signs of "normalcy" returning in some regions, our health and our planet depend on our ability to find innovative solutions for building back, better.

Starting Friday malls will be able to open in regions that have entered Phase 4 of reopening if they have implemented an enhanced Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning filtration system and follow proper ventilation protocols.
HVAC systems will be required to include filters with a Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value – or MERV – rating of which filters out the COVID-19 virus, but can, if the system makes additional protections, run on a minimum MERV of 11.

Beware of Bargains at Shopping Malls - WSJ
After years of worrying about e-commerce, mall owners face another unwelcome reckoning from the pandemic. Their stocks appear cheap, but investors are better off window shopping until the long-term hit to rental income is understood.
Permanent rent cuts will be needed to avoid a spike in vacancies. Even well-funded international brands like Swedish fashion chain H & M are negotiating reductions of up to 25%. Bankruptcies of department stores such as J.C. Penney could be especially tricky: So-called cotenancy clauses in the U.S. allow retail renters to break leases without penalty if big anchor tenants aren't replaced within a year to 18 months.
