Alabama Power to refund $100 million to customers - al.com

The James M. Barry Electric Generating Plant in Bucks, Ala., about 25 miles north of Mobile, on the banks of the Mobile River.

Alabama Power is returning $100 million in surplus fuel costs to customers this year, after a vote today by the Alabama Public Service Commission.

Customers should expect to receive a credit on their October electric bill for about $25, the company said.

Facebook is making it easier for businesses to leverage its Messenger service on their own websites. The company in November 2017 first launched a new customer chat plugin that allowed customers to talk directly with a business on the business’s own website using the Messenger service. However, that plugin had required the website visitors to be logged into Facebook, limiting adoption. Today, that’s changing , Facebook says.

NEWARK, Del — Many assistance programs are available for Delmarva Power customers who may be facing challenges paying their energy bill due to the impact of COVID-19, including the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which opened July 1. Customers in Delaware and Maryland may be eligible to receive more than $1,000 in grant support through LIHEAP toward their energy bill by applying for assistance in their state.

Delmarva Power: Restoring power to some customers may take days - Delaware Business Now

Delmarva Power warned that it may take days to restore power to some customers after Tropical Storm Isaias brought high winds and flooding.

The company's Emergency Response Organization is mobilized with all company resources dedicated to restoring service for customers safely and as efficiently as possible, a release stated.

The storm impacted more than 118,000 Delmarva Power customers. More than 42,000 customers had their power restored as of Tuesday night, with more than 56,000 still without service.

De-escalation class helps workers at Lakeland business deal with customers who don't follow

LAKELAND, Fla. - Employees at a business in downtown Lakeland are now trained in de-escalation tactics so they can deal with customers who refuse to wear a mask.

In the past, a sign reading "no shirt, no shoes, no service" would do the trick. But Black & Brew owner Chris McArthur decided the training was needed to help workers deal with those who refuse to accept the rules.

“The idea was to help our staff understand how to handle a situation before it explodes into something potentially dangerous,” McArthur told FOX 13.

Duke Energy crews restore power to more than 200,000 North Carolina customers following Hurricane

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke Energy crews today restored power to more than 200,000 North Carolina customers after Hurricane Isaias struck the state’s coastal region overnight.

Thousands of Duke Energy power line technicians and other specialists from the Carolinas, Indiana and Ohio have been making repairs to damaged utility poles, power lines and other equipment since early this morning.

Duke Energy expects to restore power to nearly all customers by late Wednesday night, with some power outages continuing into Thursday in the hardest hit communities.
