East Amherst pot shop gets go-ahead for College Street shopping plaza
AMHERST — East Amherst village center's first recreational marijuana store has been approved to set up shop in a shopping plaza on College Street.
RC Retail Amherst LLC, which will operate as Red Cardinal, recently received unanimous approval from the Zoning Board of Appeals for a special permit for 328 College St., a vacant storefront last used by Green Wave Garden Supply & Hydroponics, a business that sold supplies to people growing their own marijuana plants.

Online shopping theft in New York rises during COVID-19 pandemic
ALBANY — The state Division of Consumer Protection says there has been a rise in consumer complaints over online shopping during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Federal Trade Commission said that it received more complaints over online shopping during April and May than any other months on record.
More than half of those who complained said they never received the products they ordered. During the second quarter, the FTC said it received 4,400 complaints from New Yorkers, with 75 percent of those reporting they never received their orders.
Nordstrom 2020 Anniversary Sale: What to know and shop

'There's a lot of vacant lots on Genesee, there's room for a market on Genesee, I think that's an ideal area. I'm looking at the 600 block of Genesee and I believe that there's a lot of vacant lots that I'm actually forming a DDA on now, and would give us access to build a supermarket," he said.
"We're opening up the Mount Aaron Village within a year, that'll be 60 units on 2.2 acres with 16 townhouses. When you have an influx of those many people in your geographical area, those people have to have somewhere to shop Monday through Friday in order to have proper food on their table," he said.
