Data Science Salaries Are Flat, But Analytics Teams Weather Pandemic

For all the clamor about the shortage of data scientists, an analysis of median salaries for data crunchers shows only a slight increase in salaries over the previous year.

The latest Burch Works study of salaries for data scientists and predictive analytics professionals found a mere 1 percent increase in media pay over the previous year. Median entry level salaries settled at $80,000, with increases based on job level rising to $135,000. Managerial salaries ranged as high as $250,000.

Obtain Detailed Data Analytics Answers by Asking Right Questions

Data is not just a tool, it is an asset to organisations. What makes data more powerful is the way a company makes use of the long stored inputs at its full potential. But many aren't taking enough initiatives to reap the fruit out of it.

A report suggests that only 50% of an organisation's structured data is used for making business decisions while less than 1% of the unstructured data is even utilized. It is now time to reorganise all the data issues and get more out of the valuable source. Strategically using data paves the way to improve the customer experience, become more agile at decision making, and predicts and acts upon future trends.

PoultryWorld - Data, analytics and evidence-based decisions are key

UK poultry consumption continues to rise with associated production up by 2.2% compared to this time last year. However, it is arguably a sector that needs greater visibility, with retailers and processors under increasing pressure from consumers for this to happen. Rightly so, consumers want to understand where their food comes from, how it is produced, and the environmental impact of production.

The poultry food supply chain is one of the more complex logistical processes with many touchpoints required, from bird production to consumer purchase. However, welcoming increasingly accurate sensing technologies, coupled with the use of blockchain technology, into supply chain logistics will enable digital information (that cannot be modified) to be recorded from farm to fork. 'Data is king' but currently the data available in the poultry industry is not being used to its full potential.

Getting Started with Data Analytics: The Crucial Step You May Be Missing - RTInsights

By getting your organization's data in order at the beginning of your journey, the entire implementation will be set for success.

With cloud-based applications and their large sources of data having become the norm in the enterprise, there still seems to be a large swath of organizations that have yet to fully embrace the analytics this data can provide.

The best way for a business to get started with data analytics is to get their house in order. What I mean is to take an objective look at their existing systems and processes, both automated and manual, and see where and what core data is being generated and captured. How much data being generated is never looked at today? How many systems are barely hanging together or require extreme amounts of integration and "data wrangling" to generate any type of usable data?
