A Look Inside Kroger's Digital Marketplace Digs | PYMNTS.com
Amazon, Target and Walmart get most of the attention for their eCommerce efforts, but grocery giant Kroger has been quietly implementing a three-year-long digital transformation of its own.
Kroger's latest maneuver is the introduction of an online marketplace coming this fall , complementing a series of digital upgrades the chain first outlined in 2018. CEO Mikaila Ulmer, 15, on learning to "Bee Fearless" - Marketplace
At 15 years old, Mikaila Ulmer is a student, bee ambassador, social entrepreneur and author. The origins of her company, Me & the Bees Lemonade , which donates a portion of sales to bee conservation, dates back to a lemonade stand Mikaila started in kindergarten for a children's business competition in Austin, Texas. After 10 years in business and an appearance on the television show "Shark Tank," Mikaila's company is a national brand.
"I don’t think that there’s a limit or any particular guidelines on who can become an entrepreneur who can start a company," Mikaila told “Marketplace.” "The perception is that … there's, like, a certain race or gender or age that you need to be if you want to make it big, or be successful, or grow your company. But me and so many other kid entrepreneurs and Black-owned businesses are proving that's not the case."
Made in KC replicating its Plaza marketplace in Lee's Summit; opening set for September
A popular retail marketplace concept made in Kansas City is headed east — to the sixth-largest city in Missouri and a customer base eager to support local makers, said Thomas McIntyre.
"We want to keep growing our footprint, but only where it makes sense," said McIntyre, co-founder of Made in KC, detailing the decision to replicate the Country Club Plaza's successful Made in KC Marketplace in Lee's Summit at the Summit Fair shopping center.
The new space — a 5,600-square-foot anchor location that previously housed a Coldwater Creek womens clothing store — is a natural fit for the brand, which fuses a boldly crisp and clean aesthetic with maker products full of color and character. (Goods range from artisan foods and local apparel brands to Kansas City-made wood and leather works.)

Families are worried about the costs of online learning, study shows - Marketplace
We have parents, students, teachers and school adminstrators across the country worried about how to safely pull off this new school term and still get people educated. A new study Thursday morning from Bankrate suggests people are not just worried about the quality of education and scheduling, but also what online or partial online learning will do to their finances and careers.

Kristin Schwab: There are a lot of costs that come with school from home. Parents can't depend on school lunches and special learning programs. And of course there's the technology upgrade for households that don't have the internet or need a better connection. Plus, families with multiple kids need multiple devices.
