John Riordan was left disheartened in the late 2000s after he joined a company dedicated to remote working only to discover the workforce was not yet ready to adapt. "I have the wounds and the slings and arrows of thinking I was on to a really good idea but realising I was 10 years too early," he says.
Fast forward 13 years and he is standing in his home office in Douglas, Co Cork, from where he manages a fully remote team of 400 staff for e-commerce company Shopify's Irish operation.
