Rates to decrease in Delaware Affordable Care Act Marketplace | Cape Gazette

In a year when the nation's attention is firmly focused on healthcare and its costs, Delaware Insurance Commissioner Trinidad Navarro has announced another reduction in rates on the Delaware Health Insurance Marketplace.

Despite insurer costs related to COVID-19 testing and treatment, Navarro negotiated an average decrease of 1 percent in health insurance rates. Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware, which offers the state's Affordable Care Act health plans, initially submitted a reduction of 0.5 percent. The commissioner's final rate announcement comes after an independent actuarial review and public comments on the insurer's proposal.

On 9/11, pondering the COVID-19 recovery ahead - Marketplace

The pandemic continues in the U.S., but here in New York — once the epicenter of the outbreak — there are signs of recovery, like the return of limited indoor dining, for example.

This slow recovery from a painful disaster is especially relevant for the city today on the anniversary of 9/11.

“That’s because during the 2001 recession, it was very short and things bounced back very quickly,” Fairweather said. “During 2008, it was actually the financial sectors in New York that were impacted and people lost their jobs.”

“All of a sudden we have to shut down, so now I got to pack everything back up again,” said Joseph Sapien, who operates Waterline Designs, a small business inside Ohana Hale Marketplace.

A furious row has erupted between the United Kingdom and the European Union over their future trade relations.

Both sides have till the end of the year to forge a new trade agreement. And, like many things in 2020, those negotiations have not been going well.

The British have caused outrage in Europe and Washington by trying to unilaterally change part of the agreement that led to Brexit in the first place — namely that which concerns Northern Ireland.
