Your Customers Don’t Want A Sales Pitch—They Want Solutions

A simple definition of a consumer engagement specialist is someone who engages and interacts with a customer—or potential customer—as a partner, not as a salesperson. Gallagher, whose resume makes him look like a technology guru, doesn't sell Mitel products. Instead, he focuses on knowing everything he can about his customer—the consumers of Mitel's products—and how he can best support their needs, regardless of what technology they think they need.

First, let's talk about the word consumer . As Gallagher used that word, I kept thinking about a consumer of retail products. I rarely hear about consumers in the B2B world. I found that interesting and refreshing. After all, they are consumers of whatever we sell, be it technology or equipment or anything else.

Map: See If You Could Be Affected By PG&E's Sunday Oct. 25 Shutoff - capradio.org

Pacific Gas & Electric  has started to cut power to customers in Northern California Sunday to prevent its equipment from sparking wildfires during the strongest wind event so far this year.

Each customer account represents around two to three people, so more than 1 million Californians could be without power because of the shutoff.

The shutoffs come as forecasters expect extreme fire danger for much of Northern California this weekend, including winds up to 70 mph in the Sierra, the strongest wind event of the season. A red flag warning covers much of the region from Modesto to the Oregon border.

Quite a lot has been going on:

Bethesda Row businesses want more space for customers to wait outside

Montgomery County's Department of Transportation is working with some business owners along Bethesda Avenue to free up additional space on the street for customers to wait outside.

Under the county's Shared Streets Initiative, launched at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of streets have been closed off. The closures allow additional tables and chairs to accommodate outdoor seating for restaurants.

Avista anticipates power will be restored to all customers by Sunday evening - KXLY

Power has been restored to roughly 90% of Avista customers following Friday night's storm, the utility company said Sunday.

There are currently just over 1,800 customers still without power in Spokane and surrounding areas. That's down from the over 22,000 left in the dark Friday night.

"We thank our customers for their patience, particularly as the cold temperatures makes this outage challenging," said Dennis Vermillion, Avista president and CEO. "We are focused on restoring power quickly and safely and providing updates for customers along the way."
