WATSONVILLE — On the very same March day Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a statewide stay-at-home order, Ben Ward, Erix Celis and Jorge Vazquez were signing paperwork to take over Elkhorn Slough Brewing in Watsonville.
The employees-turned-owners said the order announcement marked the beginning of making their new business work, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It was definitely a moment of panic," Ward said, "but our first thought was we want to do what’s safest and best for our community, rather than what is best for our business."

According to T-Mobile, the company is the first carrier to offer support for the hotline number. The carrier's chief technology officer, Abdul Saad, called making he number "a matter of urgency" in terms of the COVID-19 pandemic and the impending holiday season.

The manager of the store, located in the 2800 block of West University Drive, called police at about 1 p.m. to report that the woman, who had been trespassed earlier in the day, was trying to pick fights with customers and yelling at them in the bathroom. Police arrived and spoke to the woman, who allegedly told them she had never been trespassed when they asked why she had returned.
Officers were patrolling the area at about 1:52 a.m. when they saw two bar employees escort someone outside. They spoke to the employees, who told police they witnessed the man get into an argument with someone inside and asked him to leave, after which he attempted to punch one of them.

New coffee shop opens in Fort Wayne amid the pandemic; many customers are pleased
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) -- A brand new business, Kanela, opened in Fort Wayne. The business is a women and minority owned coffee shop in downtown.
The business's first day was Monday, and so far, a co-owner of the coffee shop said business is going well so far despite the ongoing pandemic.

Management told Fort Wayne's NBC they delayed the opening for several months because of COVID-19, but they persevered and were abler to eventually open up the shop.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - With the weather getting colder, many customers are too concerned to eat indoors, and with a new, more restrictive health directive on the way, one restaurant manager says she's extremely worried.
