The pandemic has been devastating for small businesses, and that's especially true for Black-owned businesses, which were disproportionately shut out of Congress' Paycheck Protection Program in the spring.
Amy Scott: I know you’ve been working with an organization called World Central Kitchen to distribute meals to people in need. How does that partnership work?
Terence Dickson: It was a godsend — when they said that they needed us to help share meals in Baltimore City with people that might be hungry or might need a meal, I was in. And then they told me they’re gonna pay me too? I was blown away.

"Green" Bonds: Potential for the Marketplace to Reflect the Value of Environmental Goods
We use empirical data to make the case for two types of bonds—a sustainable forestry zero coupon bond and a traditional annual coupon bond—that place a value on wood products and related ecosystem services in forests. Both of these bond types can be introduced into the market readily and profitably.
Essentially, what we were after in the paper is: How do you set a price, and how do you estimate the risk of the return? One of the things about dealing with bonds is that you have three parts: you've got the current price, the yield, and the final price, and there's an equals sign in there. So, if one thing changes, the other two have to change in kind. What we were interested in was: How would somebody make an investment if this type of security were available?

Principal of Detroit technical career center tackles pandemic's challenges to training -
As coronavirus cases surge across the country, many states are reinstating safety restrictions. In Michigan, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced an emergency order on Nov. 15 that enacted “a three-week pause, targeting indoor social gatherings and other group activities in an effort to curb rapidly rising COVID-19 infection rates.” The state also paused in-person learning at high schools.
A few days prior, the Detroit Public Schools Community District announced it was halting in-person learning from Monday, Nov. 16 to Jan. 11. The measure affected Randolph Career and Technical Center, which in nonpandemic times provides hands-on learning in the construction trades. Before the suspension of face-to-face learning, some Randolph students came to the building in person.

Bangkok, Thailand-based food giant CP Foods is optimistic about global demand for its shrimp products in the post-COVID-19 era.

Retailers face a holiday decorating dilemma this year - Marketplace
In a normal year, retailers would be dressing up their stores with holiday-themed window scenes, lights and all the trimmings.
But this year, with a pandemic, new lockdowns and people ordering online instead of making in-store gift buying a family excursion, what are stores to do?
Decorating a store for the holidays takes time and money. Bob Phibbs, who runs the Retail Doctor consultancy, said businesses are, generally, of two minds about it this year.
