Cyber Monday set to be biggest online shopping day in U.S. history

Cyber Monday is on track to bring in a record of as much as $12.7 billion in online sales, according to latest industry estimates, surpassing Black Friday's digital numbers as U.S. retailers reached the last leg of an extended holiday selling season caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shoppers have seen nearly two months of offers from retailers looking to recover sales lost due to mall and store closures, while Amazon.com pushed back its annual summer promotional event to October, creating a longer than ever season.

Cyber Monday: The importance of shopping local

SERGEANT BLUFF, Iowa (KTIV) -- While Black Friday looked a little different this year due to the pandemic, there's still another chance to save big this holiday season… and that's Cyber Monday.

Online groceries: Pandemic has changed grocery shopping for good

April Wright had been a professional grocery shopper for more than two years when the coronavirus pandemic hit.

It didn't take long for her to notice a difference in the size of the orders that Shipt, the shopping and delivery company she works for, started receiving.

"I had an influx of bigger orders for basic necessities — meats, pasta, your TP, your cleaners," said the Canton woman, who juggles shopping trips with being mom to her five boys.

‘It Would Break My Heart’: Small Businesses Struggle As Holiday Shopping Weekend

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Tracking traffic through small businesses has never been more important as local shops struggle to stay open.

Sahlman works at Shop Old Gold. The downtown Sacramento business took a hard hit during the pandemic, only bringing in half the revenue it usually does. Like many small local businesses, they banked on the Small Business Saturday tradition to keep them afloat. But this year’s big shopping day only pulled in half the sales it did last year.

The experts say they have been seeing more retail scams recently involving fraudsters putting up fake websites to take advantage of the influx in online shopping.
