CEDAR RAPIDS — Mad Modern will close its storefront in the New Bohemia neighborhood and transitioning exclusively to by-appointment and curbside delivery, the furniture store announced via Facebook.
Mad Modern will move out of the store, 227 16th Ave. SE, on Dec. 1 and keep inventory in a storage unit.
“We were closed down for a while, and that was the way I was able to keep things moving,” the store’s owner Dave Owens told The Gazette. “It wasn’t meant to be a long-term solution, but there isn’t really an end in sight here.”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — They’re a common sight during the holiday season, but real estate experts suggest the trend may keep ‘popping up’ through 2021, or until COVID-19 is wiped away.
We’re talking about pop-up shops, which are quite literally popping up across Nashville, filling empty storefronts shut down due to the economic hardships of the pandemic.
“Unique times call for unique solutions,” Ryan Turbeville said, director of commercial real estate at the Ashton Real Estate Group of Re/Max Advantage. “We’re seeing a lot more pop-up shops than normal.”
Lake Geneva library to offer curbside pick-up only beginning Nov.
The Lake Geneva Public Library, 918 W. Main St., will be offering curbside pick-up service only beginning Nov. 28.
Curbside pick-up service will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Friday and Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Patrons may use the curbside service to pick up books, movies, Wi-Fi hotspots, STEM kits, magazines, record players, musical instruments and other materials.
Library materials may be returned in the drop box located in the outside front entrance. Oversized and fragile items may be returned in the blue bin next to the drop box.

Downtown Sudbury Art Crawl (DSAC) has united with local artists and businesses to offer the public a unique opportunity to explore and purchase art through window-front displays and online auctions the second time this year in the wake of COVID-19 restrictions.
Starting Saturday, Nov. 21, and running until Sunday, Dec. 13, downtown businesses will feature the work of more than 45 emerging and established local artists in their storefront windows. Because of current restrictions preventing us from gathering downtown for one day, art will be displayed for an extended period, giving the community plenty of time to come downtown and explore the art and local shops safely.
