How to Disable Google Analytics in the Nintendo Switch eShop

Following system update 11.0.0 , Nintendo includes an option in the Switch eShop to disable sharing of data with Google Analytics in regions other than Europe and Australia. Although it is not yet clear if this represents a serious privacy issue, some users might prefer to disable it. Here’s how.

Google Analytics is a marketing service run by Google that anonymously collects statistics about visitors to websites (and other online services) for clients. It compiles reports about demographics and browsing habits to show online service operators how to better target potential readers or customers.

PSA: By Default, Nintendo Now Collects Data Through Google Analytics On Switch eShop (North

It has come to light that — for at least some Switch users in North America — the Switch eShop now connects to Google Analytics by default. Introduced recently, and also appearing in the new Nintendo Switch Online 'app' that appeared with the latest firmware update , it seems that anybody with a US Nintendo Account (and possibly other non-EU/Australian accounts) is now automatically opted in for data to be shared between the platform holder and Google.

This was pointed out by Reddit user u/coors_girth after they noticed a previously unseen option appearing at the very bottom of the profile information screen on the console. We were unable to find the option on our European eShops, possible due to differences in European privacy laws, but the setting is present on our US Nintendo Accounts. Another user noted the option also appears on the Japanese Switch eShop.

New data analytics tools aim to help deliver speedier packages, better patient care and more |

When Microsoft unveiled Azure Synapse Analytics a year ago, the company promised to put data and the power of analytics at people's fingertips – anywhere in an organization – while freeing up skilled tech workers to focus on higher-value tasks than managing data infrastructure.

"We started with the hypothesis that it's too difficult for many organizations to use their own data and deploy AI, and there aren’t enough software engineers on the planet to fill the shoes of all of the analytics that’s going to need to get done," said John Macintyre, director of product, Azure Synapse and Analytics Platforms at Microsoft. "We knew we could make this tremendously simpler."

Integrating Data Management and Analytics: How It Helps Financial Institutions' Decision-Making

We are witnessing a shift in the way financial institutions focus on data management and analytics. Historically, the two disciplines have been largely separate. The data-management process has typically involved activities such as data sourcing, cross-referencing and ironing out any discrepancies via reconciliations and data-cleansing processes.

Data-analytics processes have usually been carried out afterward in a variety of desk-level tools and libraries, close to users and typically operating on separately stored subsets of data. This has created problems for many financial institutions, with the separation impacting time to insight and acting as a brake on the decision-making processes that drive business success.
