Indian Railways to use artificial intelligence, data analytics to improve efficiency | Deccan

The Indian Railways is working on using artificial intelligence and data analytics in a big way to improve its operational efficiency.

The national transporter is planning to use AI and data analytics in train operations, passengers ticket booking, maintenance of systems, freight operations, and railways assets.

"We will analyse all this data with the help of AI and analytics and use it in our Passenger Reservation System (PRS). This will also help in introduction of new trains, predictive asset maintenance," said an official.

Oracle Corporation ’s ORCL announced the availability of its Oracle MySQL Database Service integrated with MySQL Analytics Engine.

MySQL Analytics Engine is an analytic accelerator that offers support to analytics in real time and has the ability to scale up to thousands of cores, per Oracle. The new service boasts of distributed query processing algorithms along with in-memory hybrid columnar processing as well as inter-node and intra-node parallelism optimized for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (“OCI”).
