Alluxio Advances Analytics and AI with NVIDIA Accelerated Computing - Container Journal

Data processing is increasingly making use of NVIDIA GPUs for massive parallelism. This is the case for both analytics pipelines and AI / Machine Learning (ML) pipelines. Benefits from GPU acceleration for an end-to-end pipeline are limited if data access dominates the execution time. GPU-based processing drives higher data access throughput than a CPU-based cluster.

"With the advances made from the unrivaled processing power of NVIDIA's software and hardware, the bottleneck for users is now storage access throughout the data pipeline," said Haoyuan Li, Founder and CEO, Alluxio. "From this integration, users now benefit from the separation of processing clusters for analytics and AI from data storage systems, accelerating data access within milliseconds to make critical decisions, find efficiencies, lower cost, and improve customer experience."

The data-driven project manager: Using analytics to improve outcomes | CIO

With project failure rates remaining troublesome, many project managers are turning to data for help. Proper use of data can take the guesswork out of decision-making and provide tangible support project managers can use to guide their teams. Data can also prove value in helping project managers schedule work, allocate resources, increase efficiency, reduce costs, and more effectively manage risks.

Business analytics (BA) , on the other hand, is considered predictive, in that it focuses on the "why" to help make more informed predictions about the future. With BA, data is analyzed to better predict challenges and adapt to provide improved outcomes.

Health First streamlines discharge with AI-powered analytics | Healthcare IT News

Manual discharge processes, dependent on paper trails and ad hoc verbal communication, resulted in siloed information among different care teams, creating patient-flow bottlenecks and discharge delays. This clouded staff's visibility into attaining the latest status updates and identifying existing barriers for discharging patients.

Supervisors were creating 20- to 30-page patient lists daily that care teams relied on to see who was being discharged and when. However, the data quickly became outdated and inaccurate. Support services did not know when to expect admissions or when discharges were in progress, leading to a shortage of staff struggling to support the patient flow.
