LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Last month's unprecedented snowstorm caused leaks to residents' water pipes statewide causing numerous private water lines to rupture in central Arkansas, creating unexpected expenses for some Central Arkansas Water customers.
CAW never stopped providing water during the storm, which meant water continued flowing to homes with leaks if customers did not turn off their water to their homes. These customers may start seeing increased bills for the water used. CAW wants to assist as much as possible and also recognizes that above the cost of the water, many property owners now face unexpected repair bills.

Deep freeze to affect Kansas utility customers differently | State | themercury.com
WICHITA — Much of Kansas will likely see higher electric bills as a result of February's deep freeze, but utility customers in the Kansas City area could get refunds.
The difference has to do with how two different divisions of utility giant Evergy fared during the brutal cold, The Wichita Eagle reports .
The company's Kansas Central division had to spend an additional $100 million to buy power. Meanwhile, Evergy's Metro Division that serves the Kansas City area was able to generate $60 million in extra revenue because it was able to generate surplus power and sell it to other utilities.
Adjustments for Fort Smith utility customers approved after winter weather
FORT SMITH -- City utility customers who lost water because of burst pipes stemming from February's extreme weather will have an opportunity to have their water and sewer bills lowered.
The Board of Directors unanimously voted March 2 to authorize the Utility Department to provide one-time leak adjustments to these customers.
Utility Director Lance McAvoy wrote in a memo to City Administrator Carl Geffken the temperature in the city during the week of Feb. 14 was below freezing for several days. Customers experienced rolling blackouts and natural gas supply interruptions during this time, causing some pipes to freeze and burst and some post-freeze leaks.
Chinese hackers targeted SolarWinds customers in parallel with Russian op | Ars Technica
By now, most people know that hackers tied to the Russian government compromised the SolarWinds software build system and used it to push a malicious update to some 18,000 of the company's customers. On Monday, researchers published evidence that hackers from China also targeted SolarWinds customers in what security analysts have said was a distinctly different operation.
The parallel hack campaigns have been public knowledge since December, when researchers revealed that, in addition to the supply chain attack, hackers exploited a vulnerability in SolarWinds software called Orion. Hackers in the latter campaign used the exploit to install a malicious web shell dubbed Supernova on the network of a customer who used the network management tool. Researchers, however, had few if any clues as to who carried out that attack.

Brown Paper Tickets to refund $9 million to 45,000 customers | The Seattle Times
Seattle ticketing company Brown Paper Tickets has agreed to pay $9 million in restitution to an estimated 45,000 customers at both ends of the company’s business model: ticket buyers owed refunds and event organizers owed box-office revenue.
Some of those customers were ticket-buyers who wanted their money back or wanted to donate the cost of their tickets for the canceled events, many of which were fundraisers. The company also failed to pay organizers for remote events that took place despite the pandemic or had occurred before its onset.

Restaurant owners notice increase in customers as vaccines access grows
WOODMERE, Ohio (WJW)– As COVID-19 vaccinations become more available, several local restaurant owners said they are seeing an increase in customers dining indoors.
At the Original Pancake House in Woodmere Monday morning, the dining room and kitchen were busy. It’s a sign customers are feeling more comfortable sitting down for a meal.
“We have been very busy, on top of the people coming to dine in, carryout and GrubHub, Uber Eats, those type of delivery services, almost put things over the top,” said restaurant co-owner Michael Frazin.
