Looming NIL legislation opens doors for a crowded marketplace - Orlando Sentinel

When UCF football players took the field for their spring game April 10 wearing jerseys adorned with their social media handles instead of last names, they made national headlines.

It was a bold strategy meant to capitalize on the issues surrounding name, image and likeness (NIL), which has been at the forefront of a changing college landscape.

One person who enjoyed the move was Brandon Wimbush, who played quarterback at Notre Dame from 2015-18 before playing for UCF in 2019 as a graduate transfer.

West Chester giant Kroger Marketplace not history yet

Officials are doing a price check on whether the stalled Kroger Marketplace project at Tylersville and Cox roads in West Chester Twp. can be rejuvenated in the new world created by the coronavirus pandemic.

Ryan Ertel, who is now a consultant for Regency Centers — Kroger's landlord at the existing location — told the Journal-News talks with the giant grocery chain are ramping up after the deal fell apart last summer.

Things have changed drastically throughout the pandemic as businesses were forced to close due to strict health mandates and now everyone is trying to get the lay of land. Ertel said he should know more in about a month if negotiations can restart in earnest.

Denver-based digital marketplace helps pro athletes connect with brands

DENVER (KDVR) – Sarah Hendrickson is a world champion ski jumper as well as a two-time Olympian.

"I was the first-ever woman ski jumper in 2014 to jump at an Olympic Games," Sarah Hendrickson, now retired ski jumper said.

She was lucky enough to have brands like Nike backing her, but for other athletes it can be difficult to secure those big-name brands.

"A lot of athletes in our nation today are training super hard, but they have no way to connect to brands," Hendrickson said.

Can the American disability system handle long COVID? - Marketplace

Over a year after getting COVID-19, Diana Berrent continues to be mystified by some of her symptoms — headaches and deep inner-ear pain.

“I've had so many MRI's and CAT scans and so on and so forth, and I am no closer to any answers.”

That is about the same amount of Americans who have survived COVID-19 . And for many, like Berrent, the ordeal is far from over. Physicians and scientists have varying estimates, but some say between 50% to 80% of patients continue to have symptoms three months after the onset of COVID-19 — even after tests no longer detect the virus.

Bookurve founder Teoh Lian Shan on creating an online marketplace to buy, sell and trade books |

In 2012, the retail scene for books was nothing like it is now, dominated by just a few chain stores and almost all book purchases made at bricks-and-mortar outlets. IT professional and avid reader Teoh Lian Shan, whose full-time job was developing mobile apps for clients, came up with the idea of combining his passion with his profession, inspired by Amazon's success.

As is the case with all new businesses, Bookurve's first year was difficult. Marketing efforts resulted in some welcome media attention, which drove sales. There was also the novelty factor of shopping for a book online and having it delivered to you for free in a short period of time. Sites like BookDepository.com may offer free delivery and a wide range of titles, but the wait for the books is often up to a month — interminable, if it's a book you're looking forward to devouring.

Sistrunk Marketplace and Brewery | Let's Go, South Florida - South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Sistrunk Marketplace and Brewery will take you from Japan to Latin America, the distance of a short conga line, with bites like omakase sushi and scratch-made empanadas that will help fill the tank before a stop at Khoffner Brewing, where craft options include smoky pineapple beer.

The food hall opened in August 2020 and houses about 12 food stalls that highlight a multicultural dining experience that can hit almost any craving.

But it's art appreciation creating the newest buzz with the launch of SMArtWalk at Sistrunk Marketplace and Brewery . The event, which began in March, highlights one local artist on the last Saturday of every month and displays their work for purchase from 6 to 9 p.m.
