Illinois Woman's Unusual Facebook Marketplace Discovery

Remember the days of finding odd things for sale on Craigslist? Well, it looks as though Facebook Marketplace might be the new land of weird.

If you have enough friends on Facebook it is no surprise to find random items listed for sale via Marketplace in your news feed. My friend Kim P. in Rockton is one of those who either shares items sold by her friends or items which catch her eye and this one will undoubtedly raise s few eyebrows. This item could be categorized with mystery boxes if it didn't seem so weird.

Berlin Brands Group raises $240M to buy and scale up third-party Amazon Marketplace brands

The race is on for companies building e-commerce empires by rolling up smaller, promising businesses that sell via Amazon and other marketplaces and growing by using some economies of scale to operate them as one. In the latest development, Berlin Brands Group has raised $240 million that it says it will be using to acquire smaller but promising enterprises in Europe and North America — specifically the U.S.

The funding is coming in the form of debt, not equity, and it is coming specifically from UniCredit, Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank, BBG founder and CEO Peter Chaljawski said in an interview. BBG is profitable and earlier this year it committed more than $300 million off its balance sheet for buying up and operating companies, and so with this debt round (which we reported earlier this year was in the works), it now has $540 million for that purpose.

What's in a Name? Why the Same Names May Coexist in the Marketplace. | ABA Banking Journal

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) recognizes that a trademark (for goods) and service mark (for services) is merely a word, phrase, symbol, or design, or a combination thereof, that identifies and distinguishes the source of the goods or services of one party from those of others.

You may be asking: How do I protect my bank's name when there may be the same name in the marketplace? Many banks co-exist and perform the same services while using the same terms such as "First," "Bank," "Federal," "Trust," but give a different consumer impression. The PTO accounts for this during the application process for federal protection of a mark by looking at the following considerations:

Don't look now, but Bitcoin is going mainstream - Marketplace

Cryptocurrency is still kind of niche and a little confusing. The fact that it’s so beloved by eccentric tech billionaires doesn’t make it seem totally normal. But despite being developed as a decentralized alternative to government-created currencies, cryptocurrency is getting increasingly legit.

Gil Luria: The way I would define the moment is we’re in the convergence of finance of traditional finance, traditional business, with crypto. Crypto has really been on its own for a while, and there maybe hasn’t been a realization of how big a business it has become. And we are now witnessing the convergence of traditional finance and crypto.

3 Digital Marketplace Stocks Forming New Bases After 2020 Rallies

Not only were people shopping more from home, as retailers closed down or limited their capacity, especially early in the pandemic, but brick-and-mortar businesses shifted their sales online.

All three stocks posted monster price gains in 2020, as well as strong sales and earnings growth. Are these performance levels sustainable?

The stock has been correcting since mid-February. It found support near its 200-day moving average, and has been attempting an uptrend for the past two weeks. Shares closed Monday at $1202, down $25.30 or 2.05%.
