Century To Vote On Gulf Power Franchise Fee Increase, Consider EREC Hike; Customers Will Pay Up
The Town of Century will vote Monday on a franchise fee increase for Gulf Power and will begin the formal process for Escambia River Electric Cooperative.
In 1994, the franchise fees for both utilities were increased from 3% to 5%, and now the council is raising the fee to 6%.
While the franchise fee is technically charged to the utility, both Gulf Power and EREC tell NorthEscambia.com that they pass the full cost of the fee on to their customers.

Des Moines, Iowa — If you are a producer or landowner who participates in USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) conservation programs, the Farm Service Agency (FSA) may be reaching out by mail with information about a form you'll need to fill out.
Starting this year, all producers and landowners participating or applying to participate in certain NRCS conservation programs must complete form CCC-902, Farm Operating Plan, according to USDA officials. They say that historically, to participate in these programs, legal entities could file either the CCC-901, Member Information or the CCC-902, while individuals were not specifically required to file the CCC-902 with FSA.

UNDATED -- Over 4,900 people in central Minnesota were without power for about an hour on Saturday morning.
East Central Energy reported an outage around 11:00 a.m. affecting customers in the Milaca, Bock, Foreston, and Pease areas. The outage was believed to have been caused by a small animal.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning Peloton customers about the potential dangers of the company's Tread+ treadmill, after several incidents were reported of children, objects and a pet being sucked under the machine.
"The young girl [in the video] is 4 years old. The little boy is 2 years old. And you see in an instant how he is sucked underneath the treadmill with the ball that he's holding onto. This is a treadmill that weighs over 400 pounds," Joe Martyak, of the CPSC, said.

ATLANTA — Since the opening of public health vaccine sites around the state of Georgia, we've been told officials were requiring anyone looking to get vaccinated against COVID-19 needed to schedule an appointment.
Beginning Sunday morning, at the state's largest site, Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta you can now walk up and get the Pfizer vaccine.
While the department of public health says roughly 20% of Georgia's population has now been vaccinated, federal officials say that number still lags behind most of the country.
