"We are meant to drink tea," says Amy Job, owner of Salem's Jolie Tea. "This ancient beverage is a gift to humans. And I believe it still has a place in modern society," she said, sipping a fragrant cup of Antoinette, her favorite brew. "I drink a pot every morning."
As a nor'easter blows outside glazing the shop's tall windows with rain, Job, a warm and gracious person with a stylish bob and chic black clothes, sits in the serene "salon" of the beloved tea shop's new Derby Street location talking about the day when she can finally open her doors.

Century Tattoo of downtown Ashland will soon be the home of a new record shop, King Theodore Records. The two businesses plan to share a space to draw in more customers and expose them to their respective artforms.

Homewood cake baker to open storefront in Mountain Brook Village - thehomewoodstar.com
A specialty cake baking company, which had been operating out of a kitchen in Homewood, announced plans to open a brick and mortar storefront in Mountain Brook Village.
Daughters Baking will be located at 2812 Cahaba Road, which is to the left of Bromberg's and right of Ousler Sandwiches. The company sells 3-inch mini cakes, 6-inch cakes and 9-inch cakes.
The Mountain Brook location is expected to be open by midsummer, the company said in an Instagram post.

BOERNE – Despite the name, Tootie Pie Company offers a combination of all the sweets that make you smile.
"We are happy to be partnering with so many here in Boerne," Brian Demski, co-owner of Tootie Pie Co., said.
If you're looking to purchase a whole pie or custom cake, they ask for at least 10 days notice. The new location is at 1445 S. Main St. in Boerne.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The pandemic’s economic impact translated to closed-up storefronts in a usually thriving downtown area.
The alliance said as of February, about 20-25% of downtown storefront businesses are seemingly empty.
“88 storefronts have reportedly closed, and another 96 storefront businesses we’re unsure about,” said Jenell Moffett, Downtown Austin Alliance Director of Research and Analysis, during Wednesday’s report presentation.
