Utility seeks to support customers during power shutoff events - Plumas News

As part of its ongoing efforts to keep customers and communities safe, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has added numerous resources to further support customers and communities before, during and after Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS). During severe weather, PG&E may need to turn off power for public safety as high winds can cause tree branches or debris to contact energized electric lines, which could damage electrical equipment and cause a major wildfire.

Microsoft tells cloud customers about data center energy efficiency

Microsoft plans to tell its customers more about the energy use of the data centers it uses to host Azure public cloud services. With that information, customers can figure out where to deploy their applications in the most efficient possible way.

The practice dovetails with the plan Microsoft unveiled last year to remove more carbon than it emits by 2030. It could also help the company stand out to prospective customers in its bid to become larger in the growing cloud-computing market, where Amazon leads.

Bombora Company Surge(R) Shows Customers at Center

By now, I hope we all know that customers who have a good experience are not only likely to purchase more, but they will also tell their friends and colleagues about it too. With the absence of physical events in the last year, technology has stepped in to fill the void, in some cases replacing in-person interactions almost entirely.

For many, this new dynamic can end up feeling somewhat transactional, as it often tends to be price driven with the goal of creating a short-term transaction with customers. With more self-service options and less human-to-human contact, the opportunity to truly surprise and delight audiences is becoming more challenging for marketers.

The Bank of 2030: a revolution for customers

We are witnessing an evolution. Banking is changing in so many ways – the move away from cash, and even cards, the urgent uptake of online banking, and a growing interest in personal investing. The slow and steady pace of the industry has been accelerated more in the last year than in the entire decade prior.

The results of this transition are already becoming visible: the Treasury has raised the maximum contactless spend, hundreds of bank branches from the likes of HSBC and M&S Bank continue to close, and record numbers of people are opening investment accounts, with Hargreaves Lansdown reporting a 40% jump in late 2020, bringing down its average age of investor by 7 years. Similarly, competing platform AJ Bell also saw its customer base grow by 30% last year, to almost 300,000.
