SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Restaurant owners throughout the Central Coast have been finding a shortage or workers as the customers are coming back in growing numbers with the relaxing of coronavirus rules.
Some applicants are new to the business, knowing of the openings. Some are looking to switch jobs or to add a second job.
"Right now there is a shortage definitely of employees," said Aaron Petersen who owns Chomp on the Rocks and Salty at the Beach located in the Santa Barbara Harbor.
February energy bill costs surprise customers, providers
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - Colleen Rouse, along with many other Grand Valley Power (GVP) customers, received higher-than-normal bills for the month of February. Rouse, and wholesale power customer GVP, are asking questions about decisions taken by Xcel Energy.
According to, Tom Walch, Grand Valley Power CEO, the company had to pass the higher cost of power in February to its customers. Walch explained that GVP, as a co-op that operates on slim margins, had little room to absorb the higher bill it received from Xcel Energy, GVP's provider. Walch also said that GVP was blindsided by Xcel in regards to the higher February costs. "We didn't receive any notice about this from Xcel. They incurred these charges in the middle of February.
Waste Pro customers fed up with trash overpile

The San Francisco Chronicle reported on Thursday (April 9) that two sushi restaurants in San Francisco have been using the names of legitimate businesses without permission to attract customers, according to The Verge.
One restaurant, now called Chome, opened for takeout and delivery in the location of Blowfish Sushi, a restaurant that closed in December of 2020 after two decades of business. Initially, the new shop didn't change the logo or awning either, operating under the guise of Blowfish Sushi on delivery apps like Uber Eats , DoorDash, Grubhub and Postmates.
