Everything to know about the Huntington Shopping Center renovation plan

The Huntington Shopping Center on Route 110 is slated for a $40 million makeover, and we’ve got the details.

Much of the existing Huntington Shopping Center, from Applebee’s to Buy Buy Baby will be demolished, welcoming a new structure with a Whole Foods grocery store as the anchor tenant, the plan goes.

But the site plan for the project must still be approved, which Paul Mandelik, chairman of the town Planning Board, described as “very close to being ready” after it was modified following the Zoning Board of Appeals’ input.

Shopping center where mass shooting happened has troubled past, retired police major says

A retired Miami-Dade Police Commander in the district where it happened said the shopping center has been trouble in the past.

Detectives continued to scour the scene in the Country Club Shopping Center at El Mula Banquet Hall, located at 7630 Northwest 186th St., for evidence Sunday, searching for anything that could lead them to the shooters. All police have said is that there were three gunman and that they fired indiscriminately into the crowd outside of a concert venue before getting into a white Nissan pathfinder and driving off.

Overconsumption and the environment: should we all stop shopping?

I fear I'm in JB MacKinnon's bad books. Halfway through our Zoom interview, I tilt my camera to adjust to the setting sun – but from this new angle, an e-commerce box can be spotted over my shoulder. Its barcode glows in the fading light, a totem of 21st-century materialism presiding over our call.

MacKinnon is too polite to say anything, but he can't be thrilled by my cardboard companion. After all, the Canadian bestselling author and journalist is on a mission to get us to buy a lot less stuff. The Day the World Stops Shopping , his new book, explores what might happen if the world transformed into a society that does not revolve around purchasing, one in which our primary role is not as consumers and our credit cards are not our most commonly deployed tools.

City Man Shot Dead Outside Paterson Shopping Center | South Passaic Daily Voice

A chorus of voices rose this weekend, however, after word spread that the man known as "Rei" -- Ravel Trejo -- had been gunned down outside a city shopping center.

Trejo, 32, who worked as a pharmacy tech at a local CVS, "was a cool dude, a down-to-earth person," wrote friend Mel Taylor. "He wasn't with that goofy s**t."

"He was such a genuine kind soul," Gonzalez added. "Rei was a powerful person when it came to spreading love, positivity and truth. He didn't care where you came from. He was that bright star that shared his shine with everyone."
