A year after an agreement to sell Victoria's Secret fell apart as the pandemic emptied malls nationwide, the chain will be spun off by its owner to become a separate company.

Clothes that inspire confidence: Quotes + Cotton started online, now has a storefront in

Megan Swederski, front, and Allie Zusan, straighten up racks of clothing at their shop, Quotes + Cotton, on Wednesday. The store is located at 615 North Pine St. in Burlington.

BURLINGTON — A few weeks ago, a young woman entered Quotes + Cotton, a boutique that opened in late February in Burlington. She said her boyfriend was finally coming back home after serving a tour in the military, and she wanted the perfect outfit.

Megan Swederski and Allie Zusan, co-owners of the boutique, successfully helped her, who then left them a message on their Facebook page. "She was like, 'Thank you so much for being my hype girl. I haven't felt that confident about myself in a very long time,' " Zusan recalled.

Virginia sign war led to a friendly fight across the U.S.-Canada border - The Washington Post

"Hey Super Shoes! Wanna start a sign war?" wrote Jim Bohon, a music instructor at Bridge Kaldro Music in Christiansburg, Va., on the store's marquee on April 16.

Bohon said there wasn't a real reason for the message other than that he wanted to stir up some fun in the town of just over 22,000 residents.

"I just thought it would be kind of cool to have a nice back and forth with the neighbors," Bohon, 29, said, adding that the two stores have always had a friendly relationship. Still, "I honestly didn't even know if Super Shoes was going to respond."

Clayton Bailey's World of Wonders: Curated Storefront Christens New Lobby of Akron's Landmark

Join Curated Storefront on Thursday, May 27, at the Bowery Project's crown jewel, the Landmark Building, as they peer into the wild, warped mind of renowned ceramist and prankster Clayton Bailey. "This exhibit is the largest collection of Bailey's artwork anywhere in the world," said Curated Storefront founder Rick Rogers. "We're pleased to make it free to the public to help celebrate the continued revitalization of downtown Akron.

Based in California, Bailey gained a worldwide following in the late-Sixties and Seventies through his playful, eccentric creations - including gender- and animal- specific robots, troll-like ceramic heads and sci-fi-inspired oddities that became hallmarks of the era's Funk Art and Nut Art movements. Media coverage of Bailey often focused on his alter-ego, Dr. George Gladstone, a parody of the classic "mad scientist" obsessed with strange phenomena such as space-age robots, UFOs and Bigfoot.

Morin Soaps Opens Saint John Storefront In Market Square - Huddle

Many of her soaps are scented and shaped like desserts, from chocolate macarons to cinnamon donuts, that look so real you think you could eat them at a glance.

Soap is made by mixing lye, also known as sodium hydroxide, with water, then mixed with fatty oils, colours and scents in an immersion blender and set in a mold to go through the saponification (turning into soap) process.

"I find it therapeutic to do all the different soap designs – you're not just doing like one solid colour and you get to divide up the batters and you're doing a bunch of intricate swirls," she said.
