A new local e-commerce company is testing the waters for a potential permanent storefront by starting with a pop-up in downtown Richmond.
Jolene, which launched in Richmond in early April selling home goods online, this month opened a shop in the roughly 400-square-foot space at 211 W. Broad St. Owner Nolan Beck–Rivera expects to run the shop for about three months.

An online retail store based in Pigeon will soon open its first physical store in Elkton, with the owners hoping it becomes a recognized brand throughout Huron County.

IONIA — For the past four years, Andrew Mourer and Brandon Woodhams have provided Ionia residents with internet service, computers and a variety of other technology-based needs.

The duo will continue offering those services for community members — only, now, they will do so from across the street.

The pandemic has left some of the city's storefronts vacant — but Newton Community Pride is working to fill the empty windows with local art.
"A lot of our small businesses have shut down, some of our village centers have a lot of vacancies," Gavris said. "And Newton Community Pride thought that instead of looking at brown paper and 'For Lease' signs, it would be great to look at pieces of artwork."
Gavris described in a statement how the goal of the new program is to enable businesses, as well as the public, to experience high-quality art "where they least expect it."

As pandemic eases, florists' businesses blossom again in Rhode Island - The Boston Globe
PROVIDENCE — Joy Rich, owner of Flowerthyme in Wakefield, Rhode Island, had to close her storefront to walk-in customers once the pandemic hit. She furloughed her four employees in March 2020 and worked alone, taking all orders and making all of the floral arrangements herself.
"It's all non-contact, it's very different," says Rich, who has owned the shop for 28 years. "I kind of miss talking to people, but this is what we're doing now."
