Former Big Lots shopping center will not be storage units, Staunton council denies request
STAUNTON — Storage units will not be coming to the former Big Lots shopping center in Staunton's west end.
Owner Joe Harding was attempting to get his shopping center, Chestnut Hills, rezoned from general business to light industrial, according to city documents.
Staunton City Council held a public hearing on potentially changing the zoning for the west end shopping center Thursday night. According to Staunton City Council member Brenda Mead, there was a lot of people who spoke in opposition of the rezoning.

The space is approximately 30,000 square feet. Ollie's Bargain Outlet replaced Peebles and an adjacent vacant space in the plaza.
Springfield Shopping Plaza is a 164,291 square foot strip center anchored by Shaw's and Ollie's Bargain Outlet. The center has more than 22 tenants.

ByteDance Ltd., maker of video app TikTok, is working with at least one U.K. merchant to test in-app sales in the Europe market.

First National Realty Partners , a Red Bank-based real estate investment firm, has acquired a grocery-anchored shopping center in Lockport, New York, it announced.
The deal for Tops Plaza, 5287 S. Transit Road, represents FNRP's second acquisition announced this week .
The property comprises 166,634 square feet and is 97% occupied, including with a 92,000-square-foot Tops grocery store.
"Tops Plaza is a prime example of a market-dominant center," Matt Annibale, FNRP's director of acquisitions, said in a prepared statement. "Tops performs exceptionally well here, and is complemented by a variety of other marquee tenants such as TJ Maxx, Five Below and Shoe Department."

PC: Maui Economic Opportunity Maui Economic Opportunity's Lānaʻi Shopping Shuttle to Maui resumed Tuesday, May 11, after a hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Funded through Maui County grants, MEO buses pick up residents, mostly seniors, from their homes, take them to Mānele Harbor to board the Expeditions ferry to Lahaina. MEO buses meet them at Lahaina Small Boat Harbor and take them shopping on the west side before returning them to the harbor for the return trip.
