After investing over $28,000 and spending months working on opening a storefront, Royal-T Cakery has finally moved to 2040 Holland Ave. in Port Huron.
Co-owner and baker Bev Taylor said she and her husband, co-owner Al Taylor, moved into the space this past weekend and are still moving in supplies. After working on the space since late 2020 it feels good to be there.
People can pick up ordered products from the storefront, but it's not open for people to buy products just yet. However, the plan is to open sometime next week and announce a grand opening shortly, she said.

A business supporting Indigenous artists and makers by selling their products has opened a new storefront in Campbell River.
Wildflowers & Co., an Indigenous-owned and operated store launched eight month ago by Alissa Assu, held a grand opening June 15 for its new location in Tyee Plaza.
Assu, originally from Wet’suwet’en First Nation, started the shop as an online venture from her father-in-law’s garage. She later started a pop-up store for the business, the success of which convinced her to move it to a permanent location downtown.

BOSTON – MassDevelopment has awarded $390,000 in grants to nine organizations, including Fitchburg State University, to implement outdoor dining, business signage improvements, district branding and marketing plans, placemaking and wayfinding projects, public events, and more through locally developed business assistance programs in Gateway Cities. The grants were awarded through MassDevelopment's Transformative Development Initiative (TDI) Local program.
Fitchburg State University will use a $30,000 district grant and a $10,000 competitive grant to support the Fitchburg TDI Partnership's storefront improvement efforts, deploying funding for technical assistance, storefront improvements, lease subsidies for startups and growing businesses, and other strategic projects.

First Lady Frances Wolf reiterated the Wolf Administration's support of small businesses in Pennsylvania while visiting three small businesses in Philadelphia. The first lady stopped by YOWIE , Harriett's Bookshop , and Triple Bottom Brewing and spoke with the owners about how their businesses pivoted during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"During the pandemic we saw our small business community get creative in ways we've never seen before and it was truly inspiring to witness their dedication to their business and their community," First Lady Wolf said. "This trip was absolutely necessary to acknowledge their fortitude, to thank them for their contribution to the commonwealth, and to encourage them to keep going."
