AEP power outage hits Belden Village shopping district, North Canton

Power was knocked out Monday in the Belden Village shopping district as American Electric Power crews tried to complete maintenance work.

A company spokesperson said crews were doing maintenance work at a local power station and had to switch the power load to a different transformer. That transformer had problems, which led to the outage, the spokesperson said.

How Prime Day stacks up against other shopping holidays

While Amazon's retail event has grown big enough to spur competitors to launch their own competing sales, it still falls far behind other big shopping days.

Black Friday, not surprisingly, was close behind. The event netted just over $9 billion in sales. Prime Day came in third at $5.2 billion, which was just a hair more than Thanksgiving Day sales of $5.1 billion.

COVID pandemic delayed Fort Bragg shopping center. So what's next?

FORT BRAGG — Plans for a shopping center project for Fort Bragg that have been discussed for the past seven years remain on hold.

The 83,000-square-foot Fort Bragg Freedom Crossing Entertainment Center was expected to break ground earlier this year, a spokesman for the Army & Air Force Exchange Service.
