New boutique in Farrell provides much more than shopping | WYTV

FARRELL, Pa. (WKBN) – There is a new place to shop in Mercer County that will also help families in need.

Providence Clothing Store & Boutique is at the Prince of Peace Center on Darr Avenue in Farrell.

Money earned by the stores assists families in crisis to make rent and utility payments throughout the year. The Shenango Valley Chamber also held a ribbon-cutting Tuesday for both stores.

BBB: Use caution while Father's Day shopping | Business | theeagle.com

It has been more than 110 years since the first Father's Day celebration, which occurred in Washington on June 19, 1910. While initially challenging to promote, retailers and advertisers redoubled their efforts to make Father's Day a "second Christmas" for men following the economic downturn of the Great Depression. It wasn't until in 1972 that President Richard Nixon signed a proclamation making Father's Day a federal holiday.

Since its origin, the typical gifts received on Father's Day have both transformed and remained relatively steady. Tools, home improvement supplies and clothing are all common purchases for Father's Day gifts — however, electronics, special outings and automotive accessories are growing in popularity, demonstrating how technologies change the types of gifts people receive.

Smoke shopping | News, Sports, Jobs - Marshall Independent

I can personally attest to the veracity of this sentiment, although the type of smoking I enjoy doesn’t involve tobacco. My chosen form of smoking entails hardwood and flames and the occasional singed eyebrow.

Part of the unwritten Guy Code states that nothing is so good that it can’t be improved. For example, the Jersey beef that my wife and I raise is tender and delicious. But just imagine how much more delectable that brisket would be if it were lovingly bathed in the smoke of a slow cherrywood fire! The mere thought is enough to make me salivate at levels often associated with lawn sprinklers.

East Redding shopping center approved by Planning Commission

After much discussion about traffic and trees, including the fate of the ubiquitous crape myrtle as a suitable landscape tree, the Redding Planning Commission on Tuesday unanimously recommended approval of a shopping center that would be anchored by a Holiday Market.

The project is scheduled to go to the City Council in mid-July for final approval of the use permit, general plan amendment and rezoning to allow a mini-storage facility in the shopping center.

Fredericksburg considers tax on plastic shopping bags | State and Regional News | richmond.com

A visitor walks through a structure made of plastic shopping bags at the city's 2018 Earth Day event.

When the Virginia General Assembly approved a bill in January 2020 that allowed jurisdictions to impose a 5-cent tax on disposable plastic bags, Fredericksburg City Council member Kerry Devine was eager to bring the measure to the city.

But COVID-19 put a halt to that idea as Devine empathized with restaurants that were trying to make it through the pandemic.
