It's a collaborative effort between the Community Action Program of Evansville and Evansville Water and Sewer Utility called the Water Bill Assistance Program.
Some people in the community are still struggling financially as Evansville reopens, but the efforts of a local non-profit are giving people a chance.
Applicants must provide proof of income and other documents to receive assistance. If accepted, applicants can receive up to $250 towards their water payments each year.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A spike in water bill and complaints rolling into Augusta utilities. Many customers at the end of their rope and close to the bottom of their wallet. Their concerns have made it all the way into commission chambers.

Nearly 2,100 Rochester Public Utility customers in the northeast part of the city lost power and had it restored in less than an hour Wednesday.

The city-owned utility company reported the outage occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. and crews were sent to look into the problem.

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — Dozens of people filled the LaBelle Theater in South Charleston for a town hall on utility increases, many of them seniors who say they can’t afford yet another utility increase.
The Kanawha County Commission requested the meeting in an effort to get the legislature involved in stopping the rate hikes.
“I think the big emotion that you got from everyone was frustration,” said Del. Jim Barach (D-Kanawha).
