Shopping Safety: What to do if you’re being followed, watched by a stranger | WATE 6 On

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Whether it’s a movie theater or a grocery store, women across the country have shared chilling stories of someone seemingly following them or creating unsettling moments.

Women are being reminded to do just that more than ever before. Incidents have been reported down aisles, or in the parking lot.

The growing concern is not new to retired Metro police officer and current Director of Training at Royal Range in Bellevue, Bob Allen.

Despite Higher Prices and Food Shortages, Aldi Makes Father's Day Shopping Easy |

If you’re planning a Father’s Day cook-out, you might experience sticker shock picking up some sirloin steaks — or even burgers — for the grill. Meat prices often rise at the start of grilling season, but savvy shoppers can usually find excellent sales. This year, those sales may be scarce — and beef and pork is 3.3% pricier than it was this time last year , the Washington Post reported.

Additionally, beef and pork has risen by 11.4% in the past two years. Labor shortages, increases in the price of fuel to transport meat and increased demand for meat and poultry, which has led to food shortages, are all causing meat prices to spike.

Why Teens Prefer Shopping Secondhand : NPR

Thrifting has transformed into a $28 billion industry within the past decade, setting the stage for online resale marketplaces to expand. hide caption

When Eve Perez was in middle school, she remembers feeling embarrassed to shop at thrift stores. Surrounded by peers in name brands, Perez felt like there was a stigma associated with wearing used clothing.

Something shifted around five years ago, she recalls — right around the time the social networking platform Tumblr grew in popularity. She noticed a change in how people perceived buying and wearing used clothing. It became an edgy, countercultural thing to do.

In New York, Diane Von Furstenberg and The Daily recently celebrated the designer’s summer fashion collection at DVF’s Meatpacking location, where a fashion astrologer and champagne set the party mood. Elsewhere, Bottega Veneta opened a seasonal popup (in Brooklyn) with offerings that include handbags, shoes, accessories, and key ready to wear pieces from recent Salon runway shows.

As restrictions are lifted and more venues open, retailers are anticipating the return of the in-store customer — and assessing the incentives and experiences that will connect the most.
