Shopify beats revenue expectations on resilient online shopping trend | Reuters

(Reuters) -Canada's e-commerce giant Shopify Inc beat second-quarter revenue expectations on Wednesday, on the back of a resilient online shopping trend precipitated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Shopify fired on all cylinders in our second quarter, keeping our merchants well equipped to seize the opportunities presented in a post-pandemic retail era," said Amy Shapero, Shopify's chief financial officer.

What I also learned was that, as an avid outdoorsman, regardless of what city we visit or in what month, there was some cast or blast season in progress to occupy my time. Almost any pastime is better than driver, shopping assistant and large package porter!

Fairfax Co. considers 5-cent tax on plastic shopping bags | WTOP

Fairfax County, Virginia, could soon level a 5-cent tax on disposable plastic shopping bags, but it wants to hear from residents first.

The tax, it says, is intended to limit the use of those ubiquitous bags, which pollute waterways and harm wildlife.

According to Clean Virginia Waterways , plastic shopping bags have been some of the most frequently found pieces of litter along waterways in the commonwealth.
