As data management and analytics become increasingly important to efficient and transparent government operations, the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) has released a new report discussing how states can create a data analytics ecosystem.
Insight-enabling analytics will allow state government to mitigate fraud, make budget cuts and investment decisions, understand how to manage investments in IT and people and "evaluate how to develop and continually attenuate a government capability in economic resiliency," the report said.

RegData works specifically with regulatory code. It started at the federal level and has expanded to include state-level and international code for Canada and its provinces as well as to Australia and its states.
It quantifies regulations based on the actual text. RegData counts the number of restriction words, like "shall" or "must" that indicate an obligation to comply. It can also quantify regulations by industry by estimating the likelihood that a regulation restriction targets a specific industry.

Electronic health record vendor Azalea Health announced this morning that it has acquired dashboardMD, a fellow software company that offers healthcare analytics tools.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The teams from both companies will be merged following the deal's close, with dashboardMD President and CEO Jose Valero taking on a new role as director of analytics for Azalea Insights.
