Robot vacuums are the ultimate present for anyone who is strapped for time—i.e. the friend you have to schedule a lunch date with weeks in advance. While they're running from work to errands to social gatherings, they're definitely not cleaning the house.
A robot vacuum may be the perfect way to say, "I get you." Most can be scheduled to run a routine daily, and some, even when the person isn't home. A robot vac means cleaning without the elbow grease. Not to mention they don't take up much space, so most people have room for one.

What's happening: Data published Thursday is expected to confirm that U.S. retail sales declined for the second straight month in August.

Kenneth Irving Is Shopping His 483-Acre Maine Retreat for $10 Million - WSJ
In a tiny town in Maine, a member of one of Canada's richest families spent two decades creating a retreat complete with a suspension bridge to a swimming spot and a summer camp-like latrine for guests. Now he's putting the place on the market for $10 million.
Kenneth Irving, the 60-year-old former chief executive of Irving Oil, declined to discuss how much he spent on the property. "I never did the calculations on if it was commercially wise, I was just creating a place for my family to create memories," he explained.
My mom spends thousands shopping on Facebook, but doesn't tell my father.
My mother does a lot of shopping on Facebook, using Zelle , CashApp, Venmo or Paypal PYPL, -2.34% . She's not the most technology-literate person, and doesn't want to hassle my stepdad each time she wants to pay for stuff.
I'm sending out between $500 to $5,000 a month. She'll then give me cash to pay me back when I visit her. I also have two of her credit cards deducted from my checking account that pays automatically each month to pay back.

Shoe shopping in a pandemic world - Hudson Valley One
Before going to the mall to buy a pair of winter shoes, I should've checked to make sure the store still existed. For years, I've been shopping at Shoe Dept., where the footwear is plentiful and affordable, and customer service is practically nonexistent, which I don't mind.
But when I arrived, I discovered that, like most of the stores at the Hudson Valley Mall, Shoe Dept. had closed. The flagship stores started shutting down years ago, and I'm sure the pandemic hastened the demise of smaller businesses like Shoe Dept.
