Deaf woman open storefront hoping to inspire others with disabilities

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – After years of dealing with workplace bias and discrimination when searching for jobs, an Albuquerque woman, who is deaf, is opening her own store — and some of the products are already a hit.

“I was actually going to grad school for Anthropology. I wanted to be an anthropologist but my daughter showed some signs of having a disability and she needed me,” said Leonardi, owner of Hotsy Totsy Haus .

In Philadelphia, storefront art exhibition uplifts Black- and brown-owned businesses -

PHILADELPHIA — A new effort aims to beautify empty storefronts throughout the city and uplift Black-and-brown-owned businesses.

Visit Philadelphia has launched the Love + Grit Storefronts project, a public art display featuring original creations by 12 QBIPOC (queer, Black, Indigenous, people of color) artists. The initiative highlights 24 Black-and brown-owned businesses adversely impacted by COVID-19.

Computer and IT services company On Spot Techs to open first public storefront in Moraine -

After being in business for nearly a decade, a local computer and IT services business is opening its first public storefront. The project will prompt new hires.

On Spot Techs, launched by Eric Geier in February 2012, will hold a grand opening Wednesday for the new shop, which is located at 4732 S. Dixie Drive in Moraine.

'Gathering Places' book showcases Cincinnati with art, fresh prespective

A swath of red paint to represent an Over-the-Rhine storefront. Pink and yellow streaks that hang unconnected in space, yet together form the familiar façade of Music Hall. Paintings that are not literal, but are immediately recognizable.
