Tampa's Hyde Park Village brings the charm to holiday shopping

First things first: Hyde Park Village is no shopping mall. And you couldn't rightly call the sprawling outdoor stretch of stores and restaurants across six city blocks a shopping center, either.

For fun, visitors can pour their own candles at The Candle Pour, learn to make Chicken Piperade at a Sur la Table class, create their own dessert treats at Cake Drip or do dinner and a movie at Cinebistro.

Amazon touts record sales over holiday shopping weekend

Amazon said Wednesday it rang up record-breaking sales in the five-day period beginning Thanksgiving Day and ending on Cyber Monday, adding to what has been a strong showing for many retailers so far this holiday shopping season.

The company said the holiday shopping weekend was its "biggest ever," with consumers snapping up hundreds of millions of products during the period. Apple AirPods and Amazon-branded devices such as Echo Dot smart speakers and Fire TV streaming sticks were among the top-selling items.
