The Chico City Council will discuss shopping cart enforcement on Tuesday.
The council will consider implementing a citywide ordinance that would require businesses to properly secure shopping carts to prevent them from being left in public areas.
The proposed ordinance would require businesses to either secure their shopping carts with a chain or lock, or to keep them in a designated area within their property.
The council is expected to take action on the proposed ordinance during the meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM.
