Target Stores Overcharging Customers

1. According to price inspection reports from the Marin County Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures, customers overpaid for food, drinks, and personal care products in 2023 and 2024.

2. This is not a new issue, as Safeway was accused of overcharging customers in 2014 and agreed to pay a $2.25 million settlement.

3. Similarly, Target was accused of overcharging customers in 2015 and agreed to pay nearly $4 million in civil penalties, investigative costs, and restitution.

4. These violations highlight the importance of regular price inspections and enforcement of consumer protection laws to ensure fair pricing practices in the retail industry.
