Swarming flies invading Delray Marketplace restaurants

In a letter to the restaurants, management said the issue is "larger than the Marketplace" and has affected businesses throughout the Ag Reserve, noting that the source is likely the surrounding agricultural area.

Delray Marketplace management has asked for state and county assistance. It has increased the frequency of its fly-prevention program and wants to conduct the most aggressive control program permitted.

The managers also are working with the state Department of Health to identify the source of the flies. Until that report is done, it won't be known how bad the issue is or specifically where they are coming from.

The U.S. is trying to reclaim its rare-earth mantle - Marketplace

"Is your right arm OK?" asks the radiology nurse as she tapes an IV to my arm. “Yes,” I say through clenched teeth, bracing for the needle.

I'm about to get an MRI of my brain as part of a study I volunteered for, but first they have to inject me with something.

"So we are about to give you gadolinium contrast, which kind of makes the arteries pop up better in the image so we see smaller veins and arteries as well," I'm told. Around 30 million doses of this agent are administered each year worldwide.

Startup building cash-pay marketplace for healthcare raises $24M - MedCity News

Sesame, a New York-based startup that built a marketplace where people can pay for appointments at a set price, recently raised $24 million in funding. It initially started with in-person appointments, but the Covid-19 pandemic quickly changed its growth trajectory.

"That's driven a much more rapid expansion of Sesame that we had planned," Co-founder and CEO David Goldhill said in a Zoom interview. "Instead of being a company in five or six markets, which is what we expected today, we are all over the place with telemedicine."

TV shopping tip: Wait until fall (at least) to get the best price - CNET

So when is the best time to buy a new TV? It's not as easy to say "when it's cheapest" because that's often when new models are right around the corner. Plus, the cheapest TV might not be the best value . Let's dig a bit deeper.

Forget all the new tech. If your TV works and you're happy with it, keep it. Don't feel any pressure to upgrade.

If your TV is having issues, or you just want something larger, that's a different story. New TVs are much cheaper per inch than TVs of the past. You'll be able to replace your current TV with something the same size, looks better and is cheaper than your old TV. Or you can pay the same amount as your old TV and get something that's far bigger.

Shopping small makes a big impact

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, when you spend $100 at a small business, $48 stays in the community. Spend the same $100 at a big-box store or national retailer and only $14 stays.

Shopping locally requires more thought. Supporting small businesses is an intentional act — one that the mom and pop shops in your neighborhood desperately need you to make.

In the UK, search’s saving grace was strong growth in ecommerce - Insider Intelligence Trends,

Search had a challenging time during the pandemic. Spend grew just 5.3% to £7.34 billion ($9.41 billion) in 2020, down from 17.7% the previous year and significantly down on our pre-pandemic estimate of 12.2% growth. However, this latest forecast is a reversal on our interim August 2020 estimate, when we expected a decline of 1.7% for the year.

Travel spending is predominant in search, so 2020 was likely to be a rocky year for the format. Our ad spend by industry forecasts from August last year were already painting a bleak picture for the travel sector—a 36.7% decline in digital ad spend in 2020—and our update later this year is unlikely to contain any significant upticks.

Why adding intrinsic incentives for eCommerce and social is key amid heightened consumer demands

Raise your hand if you have a wallet bursting with so-called "customer loyalty" cards. You likely have one for each supermarket, your favourite coffee chain, and maybe for the bookstore. With some brands upgrading to an app, you probably also have a smartphone screen full of their colourful icons. But how often do those loyalty schemes actually influence you to make a purchase? More importantly, do they keep you loyal to the brand?

The problem with most loyalty programmes is that they're better categorised as rewards programmes. These are built around the concept of extrinsic incentives or, more simply, the external reasons or rewards that motivate the buyer. For example, a shopper would collect points for making a purchase and then receive a discount the next time they shop.

The Shift To Collaborative Analytics

But now we are in a new era in which data, analytics, and AI are increasingly considered key organizational assets. They are typically created by teams for teams, and the many producing teams might serve consumer teams that are colleagues, senior executives, customers, suppliers, or an entire ecosystem. Today, for an analytics artisan to create an analytical program for him or herself is considered a waste of value and time.

Analytics as a service: Why more enterprises should consider outsourcing – TechCrunch

With an increasing number of enterprise systems, growing teams, a rising proliferation of the web and multiple digital initiatives, companies of all sizes are creating loads of data every day. This data contains excellent business insights and immense opportunities, but it has become impossible for companies to derive actionable insights from this data consistently due to its sheer volume.

According to Verified Market Research , the analytics-as-a-service (AaaS) market is expected to grow to $101.29 billion by 2026. Organizations that have not started on their analytics journey or are spending scarce data engineer resources to resolve issues with analytics implementations are not identifying actionable data insights. Through AaaS, managed services providers (MSPs) can help organizations get started on their analytics journey immediately without extravagant capital investment.

Detect Fraud and Other Misconduct With Data Analytics

As the vast majority of business communications are conducted electronically — on ever-increasing platforms and applications — it is no surprise that regulators and organizations are taking more of a data-driven approach to detect and prevent employee wrongdoing.

Most importantly, regulators in the U.S. and across the world have stated they expect corporate compliance programs to include a data analytics component.

Whether as a proactive measure to identify fraud, theft of IP, harassment and other misconduct — or as a powerful tool to aid in uncovering the depths of wrongdoing once identified — data analytics can assist in reducing risk and liability for an organization and demonstrate to regulators that a company takes ethics and compliance seriously.

Apple's battle with Fortnite could change the iPhone as we know it - CNET

"I'll be really interested to see how much Apple argues, "This is our successful business model and this is what's at stake,'" Olson said. Judges are typically wary of completely upending a successful business on a theory that it could promote more competition and lower prices. But not always. "If you're a certain judge, you might say, 'Great! Let's do it,'" he added.

Legal experts and people behind the scenes of the trial say the hardest argument Epic will need to make is proving that iPhone users have been harmed by Apple's policies.

Special Election To Replace U.S.

When the lineup was set March 3 for Saturday's special election to replace the late U.S. Rep. Ron Wright, R-Arlington, there was some hope the 23-candidate field would eventually give way to a much more manageable race.

While that has happened to an extent — some of the major-party candidates have separated themselves from the pack — the race remains highly competitive in its final hours, and two major questions loom that have both Democrats and Republicans on edge.

NH Primary Source: New DSCC digital ad thanks Hassan for backing American Rescue Plan

THANKING HASSAN. The national political committee charged with keeping Democrats in control of the U.S. Senate after next year's midterm election is launching a new digital ad campaign this week thanking Sen. Maggie Hassan for working to bring COVID-19 relief to New Hampshire.

New Hampshire Primary Source has a first look at the 30-second YouTube ad produced by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

The DSCC said the ad is part of a five-figure buy that includes similar ads thanking Democratic senators in Nevada, Georgia and Arizona and targeting Republican senators in Florida, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
