Kuna teen makes a profit selling Dorito in a jar on Facebook Marketplace | ktvb.com

KUNA, Idaho — From papers push-pinned into corkboards to the classifieds, people posting about items they are selling has certainly evolved. What hasn't changed, however, is the odd-balls you find there.

Since Facebook has a hand in almost everything, it's no surprise that if you want to get something off your hands, you'll likely find luck on Facebook Marketplace, a place where you can find almost anything.

Whether it's classic computers, over-stuffed couched, bygone barber chairs or garden gates, if you need it, it's on Marketplace.

GameStop shares back up after Robinhood relaxes restrictions - Marketplace

So what changed? Depending on which online platform they were using, retail investors could only sell or hold, but not buy, those stocks on Thursday. Robinhood halted trading those companies involved in the dramatic tug of war between bullish individual investors and skeptical professional hedge funds.

There were all kinds of conspiracy theories online that Robinhood was trying to appease a big hedge fund. The online trading platforms say the reason for these restrictions, which have infuriated some, is that clearing a trade for customers means brokerages have to put up a bunch of money in the short term.

Artist turns COVID doodle diary into self-published book - Marketplace

When the coronavirus pandemic began to take hold around the world, artist Vic Lee started chronicling the events from his South London home.

Rather than putting pen to paper and writing down words to describe what he heard, saw and experienced, he sketched. And he sketched. And he sketched.

The 88-page book tells the story of the pandemic year — the highs and the lows, from clapping campaigns for front-line workers to toilet paper shortages and the vaccine rollout efforts.

Are we in a housing bubble? - Marketplace

Pending homes sales continued falling in December, the National Association of Realtors said Friday . Sales of existing homes that are under contract but haven’t closed dipped 0.3% from the previous month, the fourth monthly decline in a row.

When compared to the same month in the prior year, pending sales were still up more than 20% in December. But the month-to-month decline was a sign that high home prices — and tight supply — are starting to slow down sales.

Shopping Is How I Speak with My Mother, So What Happens When It Disappears? | Vogue

My mother always claims she doesn't shop. She will stand in the kitchen, while making me breakfast, and will say: "I haven't bought a new thing in two years." It's always two years no matter if those two years have passed or not. Most recently, she tells me this exact phrase while wearing a totally amazing ribbed black tank with "Jamaica" spelled out in rhinestones. It's something all the Y2K-loving Insta-girls would freak over.

* * *

Shopping is actually the only way that my mother can really communicate with the world, and with me. She's an antique dealer, so whether she can cover the bills and car insurance is dependent on how much jewelry she finds and sells in a given week. Clothes come into play, too. She finds them at estate sales, flea markets, thrift shops, and consignment stores. It's been quiet though, recently with the pandemic.

Rams Shopping QB Jared Goff?

From a financial perspective, trading Goff is easier said than done. As Rodrigue explains, the Rams would be stuck with $22.2MM in dead money if they were to trade the former first-overall pick. However, a trade would be more palatable if it took place after June 1, as the Rams would be left with only $6.8MM in dead money (plus another $15.4MM in dead cap in 2022). As our own Sam Robinson pointed out last night, releasing Goff is also unrealistic.

After earning Pro Bowl nodes in his sophomore and junior seasons (including a 2018 campaign where he helped guide the Rams to a Super Bowl loss), Goff has seemingly plateaued over the past two years. He tossed a career-high 16 interceptions in 2019, and his 20 passing touchdowns in 2020 was the lowest total since his rookie year (when he started only seven games).

How to Spot Fakes When Shopping for Vintage Clothing

Anyone who has spent time shopping for vintage clothing and accessories knows that it can be very hit-or-miss. Of course, you need to go into the whole thing with the understanding that these clothes are old (or at least they should be), which means they've likely been worn, and may not be the most perfect, spotless, completely-intact garments.

But are they actually authentic? Well, that depends on a lot of things, including what you consider "authentic" in this context—like whether it's actually old or a new vintage-style item trying to pass .

How to shop online in the least wasteful ways possible

If you've found yourself spending the pandemic filling up online shopping cart after online shopping cart, you're not alone.

Still, in an effort to reduce your own wastefulness, you might want to alter your own online shopping habits, and in doing so, show big companies that you care about what you put in your online cart.

As Pinsky explains, "individual actions...helps to avoid more stuff being produced and communicates to massive corporations that consumer interests and shopping trends are changing."

Why Robinhood Had to Risk Infuriating Its Customers - The New York Times

Robinhood had to raise $1 billion from investors yesterday to help it cover cash demands during the week's trading frenzy, while traders and lawmakers sharply criticized the online broker for halting some trading in Reddit-touted stocks. In short: The consequences of the mania in GameStop, AMC and other stocks are becoming more concrete — and, in Robinhood's case, more serious.

The surge in trading forced Robinhood to raise cash. As waves of investors poured into the markets, Wall Street's central clearing hub, the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation, demanded billions more in collateral from brokerages to shield it from the volatility. Robinhood, which had already drawn millions from its credit lines to meet margin requirements, turned to existing investors for additional capital so it wouldn't have to impose further limits on customer trades.

State agency wants Entergy to investigate new meters as customers report surging bills

BATON ROUGE - After reports of Entergy bills doubling following a meter replacement, the Public Service Commission says it's asking Entergy to take a closer look to see if anything abnormal is happening and in need of correcting.

"We have asked Entergy to give us a report, and then we're going to scrutinize that report," Greene said. "We just want to do the math and see if there's any problems. Or does it make sense?"
