Meet Rocio, 24, construction worker - Marketplace
Rocio was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Now she’s helping to build the city she grew up in. After receiving an associate’s degree in carpentry from Los Angeles Trade Technical college, she got a job with Swinerton, a commercial construction company. At age 24, she’s relatively new to the industry, but is cutting her teeth on the drywall team of a 35-story condo project downtown.
Women remain vastly outnumbered by men in construction— they make up just 10 percent of people employed in the industry. But there is plenty of work right now for someone with skills like Rocio’s. Facing a shortage of qualified workers in cities across the country, some companies (including Swinerton) have taken steps to educate more women on careers in construction.

How electric cars sparked GM's exodus from Australia, New Zealand and Thailand - Marketplace
General Motors announced that it is retiring Australian car brand Holden, which means it'll no longer sell vehicles in Australia and New Zealand with the exception of niche, specialty cars. The company will also stop selling Chevrolets in Thailand. One of the driving forces behind exiting those markets is GM's ambitious plan to sell more electric cars.
Two decades ago, about one-fifth of the new cars people bought in Australia were made by GM. Now it's less than 5 percent, and the numbers aren't much better in New Zealand.

How This Cybersecurity Marketplace is Making the World Safer | Grit Daily News
Security breaches, compromised data, and cybersecurity have become routine subjects of our daily news. The “Creeper Virus” made its debut in the early 1970s, but the term "computer virus," didn't enter our lexicon until 30+ years later. Phishing, malware, and ransomware are nefarious schemes that make even the most seasoned network professionals shudder.
One growing trend is the number of data breaches reported each year since the 1980s when they began to be cited with some regularity. Data breaches may target personally identifiable information (PII), personal health info (PHI), payment card info (PCI), more valuable data. Data breaches were not officially tracked until 2005 at which time 136 were reported by the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse.
