Conway leaders unveil plans for new downtown apartments, shopping next to river
The city of Conway bought several riverfront properties in hopes of sparking downtown revitalization and during Monday night's city council meeting, leaders unveiled plans for one of those lots.
They hope to build a new downtown apartment complex that will sit a block off Main Street along Kingston Street and 4th Avenue, which is currently an empty lot.
"Conway has not seen growth in downtown in terms of new buildings in generations," said Conway City Administrator Adam Emrick.

Person stabbed in south side shopping center parking lot

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) — A person was stabbed in a southside shopping center parking lot on Monday afternoon, said the Tallahassee Police Department. The incident happened near the intersection of Monroe St. and Orange. Ave. near Florida A&M University around 4:10 p.m. Police said the stabbing took place on the far side of a parking lot at a shopping center that includes a Piggly Wiggly and Rent-A-Center.

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — Officials in Grand Haven decided in a meeting Monday evening to demolish two out of three buildings at Chinook Pier. All three are currently unoccupied due to widespread mold issues.
Grand Haven spent over $25,000 since last summer trying to remediate the mold found in the air samples of the city-owned buildings. Recent cost estimates to restore the structures are between $800,000 and $1.3 million, said City Manager Pat McGinnis.
Ordinance To Ban Plastic Shopping Bags In Cheyenne To Be Proposed

A proposal to ban single-use plastic shopping bags in Cheyenne stores has been sent to the city attorney for review, according to a supporter of the measure.
Kelly Wright of the Sustainable Shopping Initiative says once the city attorney completes his review, the proposal, along with any recommended changes is expected to be introduced to the city council .
Wright says if it becomes law, the ordinance would eventually do away with the plastic bags in favor of reusable shopping bags or paper shopping bags made of recycled paper. Wright says stores would charge a fee to customers for the reusable or recycled bags.
Boys & Girls Clubs Richmond: Eastlawn Shopping Center will be new teen center

RICHMOND Va. -- An East End shopping center that has sat empty for months will soon be converted into a resource center for teenagers.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond (BGCMR) on Monday announced they will transform the old Eastlawn Shopping Center into an expansive teen-centric center.
"This is the most important announcement I've been part of," said Sean Miller, the non-profit's chief operating officer. "The community has supported the project hence the $25 million comprehensive campaign."
