A year ago, for National Poetry Month, Split Rock Books and the Haldane Arts Alliance displayed student poetry in the bookstore's window.
This year, under special circumstances, and with help from school librarian Carolyn Llewellyn, they've created a virtual storefront to share work by Haldane elementary students. See splitrockbks.com .
The project begins with poems by second graders, and poems by students in other classes will be posted in the coming weeks.

ROGERS PARK — After more than seven years of planning, recruiting and fundraising, the new Rogers Park co-op is taking some of its most concrete steps yet: announcing a new name and a search for a storefront.
The Far North Side’s newest co-op will be called Wild Onion Market, members of the Rogers Park Food Co-op group announced. The group has also hired a real estate agent to help scout for locations for the locally owned, sustainably sourced grocery store.

Infinity-AP, the custom storefront fabrication company in Waveland that manufactures custom storefronts for major retailers such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Victoria's Secret and the PINK chain of stores, is now manufacturing face shields for medical workers.
The production of the face shield – both the bracket that attaches to the head and the shield itself – began March 27, according to Alyssa Foley, who heads sales and marketing for Infinity-AP.

JoAnn Fabrics and Menards have served as the latest example of how craft stores and hardware stores are expected to limit operations after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's stay-home order. The order was issued March 23 to stop the spread of COVID-19, otherwise known as coronavirus, which has hit Michigan the hardest compared to most states, based on available testing data.
