New Colorado marketplace for masks, other protective equipment intended to help businesses

A volunteer-run initiative will offer businesses a place to buy personal protective equipment, like masks, for as reasonable a price as they're likely to get during a pandemic.

Energize Colorado , a nonprofit organization started by private-sector volunteers on Gov. Jared Polis' COVID-19 task forces, opened its online marketplace for protective equipment about two weeks ago. So far, they've received more than 400 orders.

Other volunteers from the business community are available as mentors for issues like dealing with mental health in the workplace and staying afloat during an economic downturn, said Brad Feld, chairman of Energize Colorado. They also have templates for different types of businesses to help work through how they can implement social distancing.

Which businesses should reopen first, according to the data - Marketplace

Researchers at MIT have created a framework to assess the “cumulative risk” of opening different types of businesses and public spaces according to their economic benefit and their likelihood of facilitating the virus's spread.

Mnuchin, Powell testify to Senate panel on COVID-19 relief- Marketplace

Two months after Congress approved a $2 trillion relief package to rescue the U.S. economy, the Senate Banking Committee questioned Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell about how they’re using that money.

The two-and-a-half-hour hearing addressed the launch date for new Fed lending programs, shortcomings that some senators found with the PPP and why parts of the CARES Act budget have yet to be spent.

Asked by Sen. Pat Toomey, a Pennsylvania Republican, when borrowers will be able to access funds, Powell said he expects that program to be up and running by the end of this month or the first few days of June.
